Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a healthcare profession that helps people of all ages achieve their goals by improving their ability to perform daily activities. Occupational therapists use evidence-based interventions to help clients develop, recover, or maintain their ability to perform the tasks that are important to them. Some of the common areas that occupational therapy addresses include physical, cognitive, and mental health conditions, as well as developmental and learning disabilities. OTs may use a variety of techniques, including adapted equipment, physical exercises, sensory integration, and cognitive-behavioural strategies.

OT services can be provided in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and clients' homes. OTs work with clients of all ages and with a variety of conditions, including developmental disabilities, musculoskeletal injuries, neurological disorders, chronic pain, mental health conditions, and the effects of aging.

The goal of OT is to help clients achieve greater independence and satisfaction in their daily lives and reach their full potential.

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and behaviour. It seeks to understand the underlying factors that drive human thoughts, emotions, and actions. Psychologists use a variety of research methods, including surveys, experiments, and observations, to study a wide range of topics, such as perception, memory, emotion, motivation, personality, and social behaviour.

The goal of psychology is to promote a better understanding of human behaviour and improve the quality of life for individuals and society as a whole. It is an interdisciplinary field that draws on knowledge from many other areas, including biology, sociology, and philosophy, to provide a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour.

Interventions include:

  • Psychological Functional Capacity Assessments

Early Childhood Approach (ECA)

The Early Childhood Approach is a philosophy and approach to teaching and learning that focuses on children's development and learning in their earliest years, typically from birth to age seven (7). This approach emphasizes the importance of play, hands-on experiences, and a supportive and nurturing environment for children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. The approach is based on the belief that children are active learners who construct their own knowledge through exploration and interaction with their environment.

Acting fast can avoid development delays which may affect their:

  • Communication & Language

  • Gross or fine motor development

  • Social skills

  • Cognitive development

  • Self-care skills

  • Emotional or sensory regulation

Medical research shows better outcomes for children with access to supports. Our therapy helps your child in their every day environments (at home, childcare, kindergarten or in the community). This allows the children to be comfortable and familiar with their environment.
